ABOUTUS

After 20 years working in the newspaper business (10 years as Art Director and illustrator for the Staten Island Advance and 10 years as an Art Director at The Wall Street Journal), I decided to venture into an area that had long been a passion of mine: teaching art to children.

Growing up in the 1950s-60s (yes, I’m ancient) and in another place (Long Island), I look back on what I thought was an idyllic childhood free of sophisticated electronics, 24 hour TV and Facebook (all of which I now love) and consider myself very lucky.

Art is the way to experience that lifestyle today. If you have nothing else, a pencil and a piece of paper will do ... and of course, your imagination! You can see by the art on this website, that imagination is not in short supply!

Thanks for making these classes a success. I hope that you enjoy the lessons as much as I do. Your children are precious to me and they will be treated like family as long as they are in my charge...dirty hands, shirts and all!                                                 —Miss Susan
